What Should You Do If Your Cell Phone Is LOST?

December 16th, 2008

The most disastrous thing you face if your phone is lost, you loose all your personal data, important phone numbers, important notes you might have stored in your phone, some pics and videos and some songs, etc.

Firstly let me tell you something about Mobile Tracking Technology.

There are many cell phones in the market which comes with Mobile Tracking Technology such as Samsung, LG, etc. This mobile tracking software comes installed in the phone and you just need to enter two mobile numbers that can be contacted when your cell phone is lost.

In Samsung mobiles, when the mobile thief inserts a new SIM card, a text message goes immediately to two registered numbers containing IMEI number of the handset and new SIM number (i.e.) mobile number. But in LG phones the text message also tells the location of new number. With this technology you can report that new SIM number inserted by thief to the cops or police and get your phone back.

Nokia, Sony Erricsion and some other phones do not have this technology installed in it. For them there is a software called Micro Mobile Controller Software by Micro Technologies. This software notifies the IMEI number, new SIM number(mobile number) and current location of it. It also send email to two email addresses which you have registered while installing software. This software costs around Rs. 500/- or $10.

There is more cheaper software available. Its called Kalyan Mobile Security. It cost only Rs. 250/- or $5 and you get a mobile tracking card to register with the company’s database.

But if you want this type of software for FREE, then here is an option. A software called Guardian provides free download of software with its basic features. However, if you want full version of it then you will need to buy it.

You can register by sending a text message(SMS) to company’s number with your card number, PIN number, IMEI number and five contact numbers along with personal details such as name & address. And when a new SIM is inserted, notification will be sent to all the five numbers.

Apart from all these software the most important thing is to register a complaint with the police. A police complaint will help you to make better use of tracking software by providing numbers to police.

Do have frequent back up of all your data. I hope this information would have given you a bright idea. Please do not forget to leave your comments below.
