India To Launch Spy Satellite On April 20

India will be launching an Israeli made Spy Satellite from Sriharikota Spaceport near Bangalore on 20th of this month. The main objective of this is to keep an eye on its international borders around the clock. This satellite will be placed 550 km above the earth and has a capability to face all weather conditions. This satellite will help government in anti-terrorist operations. This may definitely reduce the chance of terror attacks in India.

A Device That Reads Out E-Mails While Driving!

ilaneA new device specially designed for a car called iLane which alerts you with a female voice reading out for you when you receive a new email. It is a portable smartphone-compatible device, features a synthesized female voice that aware users when they receive a new email, and reads out the message.

It is mounted on a dashboard and gives driver the ability to manage without using their hands. The user can also give voice commands, delete, reply or respond an email with the help of bluetooth headset connected to it. It also lets users to make phone calls just by calling the name from their address book. It is currently enabled with only Blackberry phones and soon it would be with all other smartphones too. Hackers Target Corporate Websites

Spywares and Malwares are increasingly targeting corporate websites. The Internet is seeing a dramatic increase in the no. of web based threats. In the year 2008, there were more than 808,000 unique domains attacked and many of them were corporate websites, said a study by Symantec. It was initially a gaming site, pirated software sites that were used to send out viruses and introduce malware.

There are some new threats used by intruders were SQL injections infect mainstream websites. With this SQL injection hackers can make changes in the course code of a website and inject commands that compromise the site. Also the third party advertisements, Malvertisement is now being increasingly used to redirect user to malicious websites. Security experts say that 93% of email received is spam. Earlier employees used to get 2 or 3 spam emails a day but now its 200 to 300 per day.

Motorola India Launches Rs. 1.11 Lakh Mobile Phone

motorola-aura1Motorola has launched a new mobile phone named AURA in India on Friday. This phone costs Rs. 1,11,000 (US $2,140 approx.). This new luxury and stylish handset was launched by Bollywood superstar and Motorola’s brand ambassador Abhishek Bachchan in Mumbai.

Aura has come to the Indian market after hitting the markets in United States and United Kingdom this month.

Mr. Faisal Siddiqui, Head of India Operations, Motorola Mobile Devices said, “We are delighted to offer AURA to Indian consumers with its luxurious design, artistry and sensory experience.”

The phone’s battery offers up to 7.3 hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time.

This phone will be available from March this year in selected retail outlets. Initially it will be available in Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and some other metros. You can even make an advance booking at Motorola’s website.

Mobile Number Portability Finally Coming To India!

Indian Union Minister for IT and Communication, A Raja has announced that Indians would witness the Mobile Number Portability service from September this year. Initially this service would be available in the metro cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and in the remaining cities by the end of this year.

This Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service allow a mobile user to keep his/her number while switching from one service provider to another. Customers would not need change their mobile numbers when they wish to change their operator.

For example, if you are unhappy with your current operator and not being able to switch over to another operator because you don’t want to loose your current cell phone number. In this case this service would be very useful. You will be able to switch to different service provider(operator) of your choice with your same current mobile phone number. Isn’t this amazing!!

Yahoo! India R&D Chief Quits!

sharad_yahooOn Friday, Yahoo! India Research & Development (R&D) unit’s Chief Executive Officer Sharad Sharma has decided to quit the company. And now Shoubick Mukherjee has been named as the company’s new R&D head.

It seems that Sharad Sharma has decided to leave Yahoo! to pursue other opportunities.

Tata Motors to launch Nano on March 23

tata-nano1Today the Tata Motors has announced that it will launch its dream Rs. 1 lakh car ‘Tata Nano‘ on March 23. This car is known as ‘the world’s cheapest car‘ at the price of 100,000 rupees (US $2000 approx) will be launched at an event in Mumbai.

The car will be displayed at all the Tata Motor’s dealerships across the country from the first week of April and bookings will begin in the second week of April. Read more…

Sony CEO Kunal Dasgupta resigns due to IPL controversy

sony-kunal-dasguptaOn Feb 19, Sony Entertainment (now called Multi Screen Media) CEO Kunal Dasgupta has resigned from his duties due to IPL controversy. He was fed up with the BCCI-Sony controversy and finally confirming his resignation to Economic Times he said that he does not know what he will do next after leaving the company.

Chairman of Multi Screen Media (MSM) board Manjit Singh, has been named interim CEO till a replacement for Mr Dasgupta is found.

Dasgupta’s resignation came at a time when the controversy between Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and MSM was at its peak.

BCCI has asked MSM to compensate the 137-crore rupees loss that the board has suffered due to its on-ground deal with Reliance ADAG-owned Big TV being called off.

Sony officials were in confusion whether to ensure that Airtel comes on board as IPL’s on-ground sponsor or pay IPL Rs 137 crore for the damage that IPL has suffered.

BCCI has blamed Sony for the turn of incidents and has now warned Sony of terminating the broadcaster’s IPL rights if the money is not paid up.

World’s First Solar Powered Touch Screen Phone By Samsung

samsung-solar-phoneSamsung unveiled world’s first solar powered full touch screen phone called as “Blue Earth”. This phone is made from recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from water bottles. The phone is designed to resemble the shape of a shiny pebble, and uses a small solar panel to provide power. By charging with the solar panel located on the back of the phone, users can generate enough electronic power to call anytime anywhere.

A full solar charge of around 10 to 14 hours will provide enough power for around four hours of talk time. The handset can still be charged normally using a conventional plug.

Blue Earth goes on sale in the UK later this year and Samsung did not give any details about price. No idea when this phone will launch in India.
